Farmer's Market Thursday!

Everyone, everyone, the weather is perfect right now! 

South Royalton finally has their sh*& together and made the perfect weather day, not too hot, not too cold...amazingly perfect!

Went to the gym and I forgot to post the outstanding field across the street, in my view...

I plan on walking this grass field tomorrow instead of walking inside.

So, since it's Thursday, that means Farmer's Market Day!!

I think there was 10 tarps today instead of 8...exciting stuff people!!

Here is my FAVORITE tarp.  It's called Gizmo's Pickled Plus...I'm assuming the man on the left is Gizmo.

Look at that organization people...he has any jam, jelly or pickled vegetable you want.  He also informed me today, he ships all year for a flat 20 dolla.  

Dad, guess what, I'm shipping some stuff next week (our last Thursday in Vermont) to you so get ready!

Today I purchased, some Saltly Dog pickles, again (yes, people again, they're that addicting).  Bought Nick some kind of picked eggs and some dried Basil.  See the word BASIL on the bag, it's basil, people, I swear.

So at 5:00 we walked over to Worthy Burger so Nick could meet up with some other distance learners who are here taking classes for the summer.

I ordered the Worthy Burger (always pink in the middle) with blue cheese and bacon.  Nick order the Worthy Burger with smoked feta, jalapenos and red peppers.  

We split the basket of fries.

The best burger I've had, hands down. 100% grass fed beef and it was soooooo good, I can't begin to tell you.  My burger had a slice of blue cheese...slice! Who has heard of a slice of blue cheese? Not me!  The beer in the middle of the combo was called Conehead out of the Burlington Brewery which we are taking a tour of on Saturday, no golf, just touring breweries.  We'll see more pics of that on Saturday.

Finally Some Sun Wednesday!

Forgot to post this from yesterday.  When I walked across the Chelsea Street Bridge to check out the water levels, I stumbled across a new construction area.  It looks like South Roayalton Town Offices are getting a makeover...ohlala.

They're going from this...(brick building on the right hand side, first floor of the library)

to this....

Even though construction has barely started, looks like an improvement to me!

We actually had sun today! Yeah!

The day started out with a quick facetime call to my kinders (hehehe...blogger lingo Joycester).

It was great seeing the class and wishing them all to have a happy summer.  

I missed them for about 2 minutes...as I watched them squirm, and talk, and not sit on their bottom, and everyone talking at once.  Regardless, it was good seeing them all. (and one of my students cried when I hung up she missed me that much...so sweet!)

So I went to the Vermont Law School gym today and I must say, it's an impressive little place!

Separate room for aerobics...oh wait, it's yoga around here.

Our membership came at no charge since Nick is paying dollas ( it not dollars because it's a lot) for a Master's degree and since I'm his "partner" I got my own little card.  Not sure why the lady insisted I circle partner instead of spouse when I signed the paperwork to get the card.  Thanks, Caitlyn, for looking so much like a woman I must look like a man to be a "partner".

Anyhow, 40 minutes on the treadmill and 30 minutes biking was enough for me for the day.

Tonight's dinner included pork, broccoli, salad and garlic bread.

Tomorrow's Thursday which means you'll see pics of the 8 tarps that make up the South Royalton Farmer's Market...yeah, more pickles (I ate the last one today).

No Rain Tuesday!

Thank God, no rain today! Two days straight is enough for anyone.

First thing this morning I get a picture of this....

I know, right?? A Birthday cake for Terri and I.  A Bonnie Belles for our summer birthdays.   This student knows how much Terri loves Bonnie Belles (plus it's her b-day today) and sent this into school today...and I missed it!!  How sweet!  This Mrs. Bou"b"reaux loved it.  Super great student and I'm going to miss him when he goes to first grade.

Then the day continued with a trip into Lebanon, New Hampshire, which is about 20 minutes away.  

I've been to this Wal-Mart more times than I would like to admit.  (Hey, they have a Dunkin' Doughnuts right in the store.  So that translates into "I get an iced coffee" when I go.  No Starbucks anywhere near us.)

As you can tell by the clouds, still cold here for June! It was around 49 degrees when I ventured out.

One of the common grocery stores is a Price Chopper.  I crack up every time I think of this name in my head because I think of Arnold Schwarzenegger saying, "Get to da choppa!" from the movie Predator....so it's just a weird thing I keep saying in my head..."Going to da choppa!" (I swear, I'm sober...lol)

After the trip, the sun came out, finally! So I took a quick walk around some different streets and look what I found...

Yes, folks. a kinda-sorta chicken coop...right in town!

Not sure if these were college folks, but who knows, wouldn't be surprised if they were.

So I decided to walk across the bridge that brings you into South Royalton ( yes, Nick, I went across the bridge).

Look at the difference in water levels from Friday pictures...

You can't even see the rocks in the middle.

Also I noticed this...

makes me think it's a newer bridge.

On my way back into town I went on a scavenger hunt to find this football field and playground I keep seeing...here it's the back end of the South Royalton School that's on the other side of town.

Here's what a PK-12 school looks like...

I noticed their PK's last day is June 4th with Family Day Friday for K-5 on June 5th...so I'm guessing their last day is this Friday.

Right across from the school, I took pictures of the community garden.

I'm guessing anyone in the town can garden here.  But, by the looks of it, not sure that's happening.

Nick and I just had dinner...it was a gourmet feast, let me tell you...

Hot dogs!  Yes, hot dogs and wine. You are seeing correctly.  It was delish, they were Nathan's.

Tomorrow, I'm face-timing my kiddos (hehehe, Lori Joyce...kiddos) for a "have a great summer" phone call, hopefully it will work.

Rainy Day Number 2!

Can you all believe it's June already??!! 

Wish we were seeing June weather in Vermont, all we're seeing is rain and Caitlyn Jenner all over the place.  (One looks waaaaay better than me in a corset and one looks like crap!)

So with this lovely weather, I drove Nick to school then came back to our house and slept til 10:00.  Yes, I'll admit it, 10:00.  I was up and down all night, so sleep was needed.

Walked all of 50 feet to the bank to get cash and a roll of quarters for laundry then walked all of another 30 feet to get diet coke (gotta have it, people).  Then I decided some bread for dinner tonight and an orange and cranberry scone from the market store were in order.  

Best scone ever! Realized I should of taken a pic, but it was already eaten :).

Mind you, it's still pouring the rain during all of this walking, so a scone was definitely needed.

and here's the reason I needed 10.00 dollars in quarters...

$2.00 for a load to wash and $1.50 for a load to dry!  And I had 3 loads to wash, thank goodness the dryer is like a monster and I could split some of the drying time with different loads, so I have a few quarters left...but not many.

Did a few housekeeping chores, some computer work then  started reading a new book.  It's super funny because it's about a Texan debutante turned into a Boston lawyer, has to come home to help her mom get divorced and there's so many southern references, I'm loving the book.

For all of you soon to be summer readers out there, it's called the Ex-Debutante by Linda Francis Lee (even the author has 3 names, very southern).

Here's tonight's dinner, a sad repeat I'm afraid.....

chicken with a Caribbean Jerk marinade, couscous and spinach mix with a salad including farmer's market green tomatoes (they're still amazing).

Wine tonight came from the South Royalton market, or the "co-op", as the locals like to say.  It's a red blend with only 20% cab grapes so it's not as heavy as we are used to having a dinner.

Come back tomorrow where hopefully you'll see better weather but I just checked The Weather Channel app and it's calling for 60% chance of rain with a high of 57 degrees.  It's currently 57 degrees right now.  

Plan is to drive into Lebanon to grocery shop so I'll take some pictures of that town and share.

Rainy Day Sunday

Sorry folks, nothing but rain to show today...

Not only that, but I just checked my Weather Channel app and it says it is currently 50 degrees! 

I feel like it's November.

Plus, there's 100 % chance of rain tomorrow with a high of 49 degrees. Yeah us!

But on a good note, it's Sunday which means our traditional breakfast/brunch of pancakes and bacon!

Nick brought bacon from Pittsburgh's downtown Thursday Farmer's Market so we decided to give it a try....

I had to guess at teaspoon/tablespoon measurements since we don't have measuring spoons but the pancakes turned out alright, not my best though.  We're not sure about the bacon, it was very thick and not too tasty, we were very surprised by the lack of saltiness.

Super Saturday!

Today was a good day for golf!

We golfed at Woodstock Inn and Resort (a Robert Trent Jones course).

Driving range for 30 minutes...

Then we had your normal, RTJ course of lots of sand and water. Lots o' sand.

Very pretty course but narrow and not quite what I expected for the price.

For dinner we ended up stopping at Worthy Burger's mother ship Worthy Kitchen in the town of Woodstock..who knew?

I mean, check out the local farmers list, amazing, you know where all of your food is coming from!!

I had a brisket melt and Nick had the Worthy Bomb.  A Worthy Bomb consisted of a double burger with a piece of fried chicken in the middle...no joke!!

His bomb is the one with the lettuce.

We had a bottle of wine with a very catchy and familiar phrase, Horseshoes and Handgrenades.

Loved the label!  Yes, we are label wine buyers.

We then decided to drive back into Woodstock (beautiful, beautiful town) to have a drink at Bentley's. 

Very old building, 1867, was a hotel, burnt in a fire, rebuilt into another building, not a hotel (pictured above).  Very cool place, TALL drinks, but we paid for the tallness.  For an extra 10 dollars, we could have "spun the wheel" but we passed, spinning the wheel was not in the budget.

Now the hot, hot, hot sticky day is done, I had half of a cold and salty pickle (even though I'm not hungry at all, they're just THAT good) and I'm posting the total scores for golf today...you decide who won :).
